Blue smoke

Ok I have a 1g dsm and recently put Castrol Syntec 5w30 in I didn't mean to buy 5w30, I noticed it after I put it in the car. Now the car blows out blue smoke when at idle and during acceleration could the 5 30 be to thin of is it because of the synthetic oil?

There are three places for you to burn oil. These are the piston rings, the valve seals, and the oil seals in the turbo.
To check the turbo pull off your lower intercooler piping. You'll be looking for excessive amounts of oil in the pipe and the intercooler. While you're at it you'll want to check for shaft play as losing oil through the seals will cause the bearing to prematurly fail.
Next you'll want to run a wet and dry Compression Test. This will give us a general view of the condition of the engine, and whether or not you've got bad piston rings.
If both of these tests are good then we've narrowed it down to the valve seals.
Just remember, oil is the life blood of the vehicle. You can't have a 500whp reliable car with regular oil. For your car right now, 10w30 will be good. And you don't want to go from regular oil to synthetic in the blink of an eye. You'll need to wean your car off of regular oil slowly.
