Lately I've been noticing that my front tires on my AWD have been wearing down pretty fast. Also, when I get up around 70MPH or so, my steering wheel starts shaking pretty bad. It used to shake some, but it seems to be getting a good bit worse.

What could cause the wheel to shake excessively and wear out my tires like that? Or are the two issues even connected?

take the tires in to see if they are balanced....sounds like one was not balanced correctly. Also check the sway bay to see that the tie rods and everything else is ok. Sounds very dangerous man, take off the rims and scope it out.

New tires on the front and the wheel shaking seems to be somewhat better, but I still get it around 75 - 80 miles an hour, just not as severe as it was.

Most likely you need an alignment. Also, check your wheel bearings. Jack up your car and try moving the wheel using your hands front/back and in/out see if it has any play.

Actually, I need to update my profile because my lowering springs were taken off about a week ago and replaced with the stock suspension.

Also the most overlooked parts would be your balljoint, control arms and your rotors. I had the same problem, i replaced the rotors and shoes and the vibration went down considerable. Just make sure you check every bushing and balljoint of the steering assembles.
