Hey yall. My 4g63 is giving me rough idling issues and the turbo is making a strange noise while im boosting. I tried searching this topic but i did not find anything on how to perform this test. How can I do a boost leak test and what information does this test give me to diagnose problems with the turbo? any info given would be very appreciative. thank you for your times.

Reasons to do a boost leak are mainly loss in power. Everyone should check their car for leaks every other week. Check for any wear/tear on the couplers but sometimes your eyes can deceive you. Some leaks come from places you would not have guessed or seen.
When you perform this boost leak test, you see can see if there is any leaking on the couplers, bov, tb etc etc.
Also see if there is any oil on the side mount intecooler and on the turbo. If there is oil, clean out the side mount intercooler with racegas or alcohol (*Note* Make sure you let it dry completely after you put it back on the car) and install a catch can to prevent more excessive oil into the intercooler and turbo.
