Hi I have a huge problem with my 1G. The other day I was reconnecting the power wire to my Apexi TT and all of the sudden there was a big spark where I had my hands under the dash. Right away I went and unhooked the battery and finnished hooking up the wire. Well when I reconnected the battery, nothing. The car won't start, no windows, no headlights, no CD player, and my alarm is all jacked up, making weird sounds and stuff. Well my first thought was I blew a fuse. Wrong. I checked all fuses, including the ignition fuse, and all are fine. I read about the fusable links but don't know where to find them. Anyone know what is causing this? I really need this fixed as it is my daily driver. Thanx in advance for any advice. :talon:

Sounds like you blew the main fuse. Check all the fuses, if you don't have a test light, get one, it's like 10bux at a local tool shop, or even at walmart. Also, get rid of all the un-insulated wires that you might have, use electrical tape.

thanx for replying. Yes I do have a test light. Where is the main fuse and about how much is it going to be? Also I did already tape up the bare wires. Thanx again for the help.

Under the hood. Depending on the size of the fuse you blew not over a few dollars. Which is cheap.

Always remember step one. "Remove negative battery cable". You are now the poster child for why this is necessary.

Now if someone asks why, you can speak from first hand experience. We all have done this at one time or another.

Good Luck

Ok today I went and bought a new main power fuse and autozone told me it is located
behind or under the dash on the left or right firewall.
Well that doesn't help much at all. I looked for this stupid fuse for an hour and nothing. Can somone please tell me exactly where it's at or at least where I can find out where it's at. Thanx alot for your time.

There's three main fuse/fusible link boxes.
1- Just to the left of the clutch pedal, in the cabin.
2- On the positive battery cable (three fusible links)
3- The large black fusebox on the passenger front side of the engine bay (between strut tower and stock MAS). gently pull the edges to release the locking clips holding the cover in place.

yea I know where all the fuse boxes are thats why i'm so stumped. I went and got the Haynes manual yesterday and didn't find anything about a main power fuse. There is, however, wiring diagrams in it so I am just going to look at the ignition wiring diagram and follow the entire line until I find the blown fuse. I don't have alot of time though so I might rollback it to the local shop. Thanx again for all your time and I hope to have it fixed soon. Either way I will post what it was.:talon:

so I finally got it to the shop and my turbo timer ended up being defective. The wireing harness was all jacked up and they just reconnected the ignition harness back in the factory location. All well, I guess i'm out of a tt, but at least the car runs right? Thanx a lot to all of you for your time.
