-I have a '93 talon tsi awd... Completely stock besides removing the honeycomb and a little hack of the intake canister (did correctly, followed tutorial)
I bought the car with a slight miss, if you watch the motor you can see it stumble (not bad maybe a few times a minute). Also can hear a slight pop in the exhaust if you get down on your knees at the end of the muffler.
The motor runs lean but seems to eat gas pretty good. I know this because when i changed the plugs ALL four were white. I also pulled a plug after about 100+miles of driving on the new plugs and it was white. I always run 93oct because 91 is not sold around here and i ran a can of sea foam through a vacuum line to the TB. Have replaced:
Plugs with bpres6's (had champions in it when i bought it WTF )
Replaced wires with correct accel aftermarket ones
Changed the fuel filter
Changed the air filter
I have had a slight idle problem but it is occaisional both while hot and cold the idle would bounce ONLY 100-200rpms not 1k like i have heard others talking about. It is barely noticeable if your watching the tach. The factory boost gauge looks to hit about 9psi and i dont get a cel. Boosts strong and i dont hit fuel cut. I was told once that when i floored it it blew a little black smoke. Car has 70k miles on it and has an a/t with the 13g. Seemed to be well maintained and not beaten on, so i doubt the turbo is shot or something...
Also if you hold your hand to the back of the exhaust tip little black specs and sprayed out... (backed car into garage and left black specs all over a piece of cardboard)
