ok, i have a 95 Talon TSi AWD, when you rev it above 2500RPM it makes a tapping noise. Similar to a valve tap but deep in the motor. Does this sound like crankwalk? Aside from taking the tranny out and shaking the flywheel to see if it moves what can you do to check for crankwalk?

CW usually sounds like a cow bell. Pop your oil dip-stick out and check for small metal filings.

no cowbell sound just a nonviolent knocking sound...no shavings either

Is it coming from the top or towards the bottom of the motor?

Easiest way to check for CW is to drop the oil pan and check the horizontal play of the crank shaft. But it's not as common as you think.
Your description of the problem is pretty vague.
Does this sound only happen when in neutral? Or while driving as well?
Is it affecting the performance of the vehicle at all?
Is the sound a constant knock at 2500 rpm and above only?

Yes it is 2500 and above.
It happens whether im in gear or not.
it doesnt seem to affect the performance a whole lot.
The knocking isnt violent at all.

A couple of my buddys told me they thought it was a loose flywheel bolt.

Very possible. I would drop the oil pan and check it out though.
Also, you can take out your CAS and make sure it's not torn up (another sign of crankwalk).

If your gonna pull your pan to check for CW, check your rod bearings while you are there. Rod knock chimes in right about 2500-2700. I had similar symptoms as you and turned out to be a spent rod bearing.

ok so i drove it today. I can feel the knock through my my clutch pedal if i rev it with the pedal in...

hmmm, im going to have to rip it open damnit!!! well im actually trying to sell it, so im going to see if they will buy it problem un-diagnosed...2500 isnt a bad deal i think!
