new alt, new bat, no recarge

ok, so i have a new alt, brand new... used for 15 mins, i cant figure out the problem. also a new battery that i just got yesterday.

Ok, so i have the main harness plugged in, i have the wire that goes on the stud plugged in./ Here is my problem, the plug that lookes like a "gun" or "L shaped" broke in my old alt. so i had to get a new alt. So i cut the plug off, and used a bolt connector, or w.e they are called. But i dont know where it goes on the alt? is this the ground wire? '

PS. i blew a fuse, and replaced it, and it didnt blow again, i cant figure out where this wire goes. please help, and a pic would be GREATLY appriciated. thanks fellow dsmers.

ok, so i hooked a volt meter up to my battery, and it read 12.51, then i started the car, and it read 14.50 something... and it steadily declined to 14.20 , so i shut the car off, and when i did the batt. read 12.20 , and went back up to 12.50 pretty quick and stayed there

is my alt recharging? or what? the rpms rise and decline, like a idleing problem.
