recently me and my dad rebuilt my motor and while doing so cracked the head gasket cover.. we bought a new one, he owns a shop and he told one of his workers to put it on. i guess they never did because i drove around for a week with a oil leakOMG unknowingly. and yeserday i turned on my car and drove to work which is like 3 min away but on my way my car would shut off on me if i gave it no gas, and den it would keep knockin from the head well it was more like a clickin a loud clickin... well my dad came by we put oil in it and drove home.. it sounded fine after we let it run for a while but on da way home the knockin was da same mayb even louder.. and my car would still shut off. were guna look at it tommoro wen he has time but i just wanted to get any opinions on what i might of messed up.. i think it might be my valves but im not a mechanic or a specialist.. just wanted some opionions...:thumb:

Check your compression and post back with the results. Probably bent at least one valve. I'm surprised the car turns on at all -- probably best to not try to start it yet, at least until you've run a compression test.

The 'clicking' sound you're hearing is likely valves hitting pistons.

You're lucky you didn't break way more than you did -- low (or no) oil 95% of the time equals catastrophic engine failure. :notgood:

but should i still hear the clicking sound even if i already put oil in??

Yes. Once the damage is done, it's done, unfortunately. The problem occurred when you were low (or out) of oil - you bent a valve (or two...or three...or four.....:notgood: ), which is now hitting the piston(s). Adding oil does nothing but lubricate the process -- a bent valve is a bent valve, and your head will need to come off.

Many times with bent valves comes jumped timing, so check your engine timing as well. Hopefully you will get out of this with only top end work. When a sharp object in the road punctured one of my oil lines in my Volvo (many years ago), all the oil blew out of the engine over a period of about 45 minutes t0 1 hour. My engine had siezed completely before I even knew there was a problem. So consider yourself lucky so far.
