i have a 96 gst with light modds and if it matters an apexi avc boost controller. well the car runs fine until i hit 7000 rpms. once i hit 7k the car starts acting up, for example it wont fire in certain cylinders, and the rpms start spinning around like crazy. I replaced the ignition control module and that fixed it until i hit 7k again. I noticed that if i unplug the battery for a little while the car stops missing and going nuts and runs normal. ALSO i noticed the new ignition control module hasnt blown YET. any help is much appreciated.

You shouldn't be going above 7000 rpm anyways :nono: , thats what redline is. I'm guessing your car is acting up because you're driving the hell out of it.

Stock T-25 at 7K with boost levels set > stock would be a great invitation to knock and timing retard.

Stock limiter is 7500RPMs and you're not going to make much power past 6K on a stock head/intake/cams/turbo so why rev so high

By resetting the ECU you've in effect cleared the ECU's memory of past knock incidences which is used to update the "octane" value (ECU uses this value to prevent future incidences by reducing timing) :dsm:

i definitely get what your saying about going past 7k. i did find out the problem, it was where the wire harness plugs into the ignition module. BUT, what im asking i guess is what if i do hit 6k or maybe just a hair farther and this happens again ? what do yall think it could be. thanks for the responses.
