I was changing my oil, pulling my car on ramps (riding the clutch a little) and I smelled the sweet ass smell of clutch burning. Now it is slipping in 4th and 5th gear. I just want to know if anyone here has had their clutch replaced by a mechanic and how much it cost. I would rather do it myself if it isn't too hard, and what clutch should I get?
Thanks for any input.
Oh yea, just for the record, this is my January car-took-a-shit edition. One every month since I got the cold hearted bastard...

having a FWD makes it a bit easier for you. It isn't brain surgery but it is pretty labor intensive. If you are not mechanically inclined it is not the place you want to start trying to learn. If you have a buddy that is mechanically savy then buy him a case and go to town. V-Faq has come good directions.

If nothing else, a professional is always a good choice. Find one that knows the DSM and will be able to handle the job properly.

Best of luck to you.

Yeah changing a clutch isnt the hardest thing in the world, first time is a PITA, second time isnt as bad, and the third time is easy.....Also price depends on where you go, it could cost anywhere from 200-600 bucks..Maybe even more or maybe even less.
