wheel movement

while driving the other day i heard a grinding noise coming from the front wheel. i parked and looked at my front left tire and it seemed to far forward. the wheel had rubbed on the wheel well and rubbed a hole in it. (stock wheels and tire size). then i tried pushing the tire towards the back of the car and it moved back a good 5 inches. the wheel would stay straight with the car and moved back and forth if pushed it. i havn't gotten it towed yet so i can't get under there and look at for now.

what did i break?

what did i break?

Sounds to me you have a ball joint way gone probably your outter tie rod is also gone. The ball joints are pressed in if you plan to keep this car have both ball joint and tie rods done for safetys sake. ALso I have seen on these 1G the rubber bushings on the control arms fall apart check that too. Let me know the outcome
