My Servive Engine Soon light came on

I was driving on the highway and it just turned on. I have about 80,000 miles on the car. Any ideas what it could be?

Did the car do anything wierd before it happened? There is alot of factors that are involved in CELs.. Go to auto-zone and get them to see what codes it is throwing.

No nothing weird happened. I was driving on a dirt road (first time ever). Maybe a rock messed something up? I doubt it but the light didn't come on till much later.

Take your positive battery post off for 15 seconds and reconnect it and start the car wait and see if the CEL comes back on. If it does take it to auto-zone and get them to see what codes its throwing.

Is that going to reset the stereo and all of that?

If you disconnect the battery post it will reset the radio, but you could drive over to auto-zone or somewhere that can diagnose what codes the CEL is throwing and you would not have to take the battery cable off. But either way you are going to need to know if the CEL is going to stay on or see what code its throwing.

Did you do anything to the car before the CEL came on??

When you go to advanced or autozone or wherever you go to get it checked, reference their number above on the list that pixelfuture posted for you. They are very good at getting the codes however sometimes the diagnosis is wrong to say the least.
