my car wont start almost everytime i try to start it, it will crank over and then try to idle bit it sounds like its only running on 2 cylinders then if i hit the gas pedal it will rev up and sometimes can get it to idle and run but somtimes i rev it up and it dies....

i have a check engine light on and my datalogger said its code 23 tdc sensor(cam sensor), so i replaced the cam sensor and cleared the code and it still does the same thing...

my question is can a throttle position sensor cause this problem?:talon:

Did the CEL come back on with the Cam Sensor DTC? If so, a faulty TPS would most likely not be the problem. If the DTC didn't come back, then sure, it could be an issue with the TPS, but it could be one of several other sensors as well. Just don't start throwing parts at it in hopes of getting lucky.

Did you just add anything to your car before this happened, or did you adjust or tinker with anything? Also, it never hurts to verify the timing and check your plugs/wires. Always check the simple stuff first.

I would recommend taking a look at your ECT (Coolant Temperature Sensor). It's located near the bottom of the thermostat housing next to the coolant gauge sending unit. This is the very first sensor that your ECU looks at when you start the car - if this goes bad, or the wiring to it deteriorates, the ECU will get all kinds of confused and will do strange things, including throwing tons of fuel into the engine and basically flooding it. Pull your plugs and see if it looks like you're running pig rich. One of the first symptoms of a bad ECT is hard cold starts -- the ECU doesn't know what to do, and freaks out...

You can check your TPS and ISC if the ECT checks okay. Here's a link for checking the TPS if you feel particularly enterprising and feel like checking stuff out... http://www.plymouthlaser.com/tps.htm

The ISC is also simple to check. It involves checking resistance between the pins, and hooking the unit up to a 6 volt battery. I don't have the link handy at the moment, but if you can't find it, let me know and I will post it up. What you're describing sounds more like an ISC problem than a TPS problem to me (provided the temp sensor is good).

time to bust out the dvom check you voltage at the tps sensor should show varied voltage between 0 and 5 volts, also i agree that it could be your ect sensor, does it start? if no, unplug your fuel pump try to start and if it does turn over than most likly it's your ect unplugged or no good, best of luck:thumb:
