'95 Eclipse Strange Idle

I just recently bought a 95 Mitsu Eclipse RS 5 spd. Non-turbo as far as I can tell. It has 87k miles on it but here's the kicker. I'm pretty sure it WAS modded and then the mods were taken out before it was passed along. My problem is this: When I'm idling the car shakes and the engine stutters/rumbles/rattles just a bit. It sounds like there's a cam in there sometimes, other times it sounds like it's about to die. But when I accelerate it's a thing of beauty, it starts purring right off the bat. I'm nearing 70 in second gear without redlining and it doesn't sound like anything's wrong. But when I come to a stop sign or light and it starts idling it's back to being bouncy. Perhaps there's something loose that I can't find? I'm so open to suggestions at this point.


On a side note when I turn my wheels completely left or right and move there's this screeching sound, if I back off of the max turn by even an inch it stops. Is this the tire rubbing something or is it something worse? Sorry for the two questions there but I couldn't find any answers in the rest of the forums. Thanks ahead.

P.S. My lil shaky Eclipse has already dusted a modded Integra and a Civic so on to DSMs!

dont know about your idle problem except maybe check for intake leaks past the maf, or perhaps new plugs and wires wouldnt hurt.

but the squealing sound is your power steering belt either needs replaced or just tightened up.

for the idle...i would start with the idle control solenoid, the wheels turned at full lock will sometimes make a noise on older cars.
