OK So i bought a 93 eclipse gs from my career school i go to and the only problem was that the 3rd cylinder would not fire( got i cheap :thumb:) ok so by the time i had the head off i found a valve was missing a piece so the valve had to be replaced. The rest checked out good and the cylinder walls were smooth too so no damage when the valve lost the piece. The problem is that once it was fixed and hooked back up we crank the key over and nothing. Barley hits 300 rpms. Checked the firing order and replaced the wires and spark plugs with the ones from my good car. i know it takes 3 things to make a car go. Gas, spark, air. Got spark. Got Air. Smelled Gas and the car ran before so the gas must be good enoguh to start it. Anyone have any idea why when we crank its not starting up? Should I re time it?

The cam angle sensor was taken off at the time the head was done but I put it back on there and adjusted it while cranking it and then flipped it. Neither fired the motor up.

If anyone has any advice i would love to hear it.

Jeff

Gas, spark, air. Got spark.
You will always have air so it's usually not a concern when trouble shooting no start. What will be needed to "make a car go", as you put it, are fuel, spark, compression and a functioning coolant temperature sensor (ECT).

first things first...who did the head work(you or a shop)? If you fixed the valve did you bleed the lifters?double check your timming.

I had a shop do it and the valve checked out good but even so the one valve would only stop the one cylinder from firing. I still have the other three to fire it. But i am goign to go over the timing again. My friend is the one who helped me through out this and i am pretty sure it was all good hwne we timed it but hey whats it gonna hurt to re do it and double check it. As for if they bleed the liftings i dont no but still one valve wouldn't throw off the other 3 as i said earlier. The more i relize it i think timign is playing a factor. Well i will check it tonight and keep you guys posted. Thanks alot so far.
