Hi guys, I guess this really isn't an install question since this how-to tells it really well. My question is about how the fittings seat onto the afpr itself. I just received mine from IE and my fittings don't completely got into the afpr. It's not cross threaded or anything like that. I just have quite a bit of the bolt or fitting sticking out. I feel like I need it to go all the way in there. I'm either really weak or the bolts or fittings just don't go in any further. Any inputs on this?

TIA,
John

depends. if it is an aeromotive it has a o-ring boss that will thread down until the o-ring seats, no threads sticking out. if it is a npt fitting, then use some teflon tape as suggested and tighten down wrench tight. now that does not mean get your 250lb buddy to jump up and down on the wrench to tighten it. you will have some thread sticking out with npt threads.

I know what you're talking about and that is seated properly. It's the Import Evolution Aeromotive kit that bolts onto the brake resevoir.

Well, looking into the afpr, the tip of the bolt can only go so far (I think I'm answering my own question here and anyone elses who will come across this too). In other words, the holes are only threaded so far into the afpr until the bolt runs out of threading, hence why the bolts and fittings only go so far. I do have teflon tape too. I think I was just checking to make sure that this is normal in some applications. I would have thought that the bolts and fittings would have seated flat against the afpr but I guess not.

yea those are npt threads, and that looks about right. the taper causes it not to bottom out before the threads seal. of course teflon tape or thread sealing compound is reccomended for tapered threads, as i see you used.
the aeromotive 13109 is what i have and the one i was speaking of with o-ring boss fittings.

Is that your AFPR? If so you know that barbed fitting with the yellow washer type thing on it is a clampless fitting right! it takes a specific hose and you do not use a clamp if you do it will cut into the hose.

Yes sir it is mine. I'm prepping it for this weekend. I did know about not using a fuel clamp on it, but I didn't know that it would cut into the hose :coy: (I know why now though :rocks: ). It all came as a kit with instructions and a very rigid hose. Thank you for making sure I get it right the first time though :thumb:.

did you guys use oil like in the how to, or did you guys use vasoline like I've read somewhere in here before, to get the hose to slip on easier? If not what did you guys use?

If you want to do it right, get some aeroquip type hose ends, cost more but will thank yourself for using them, and look good too. Good place is either summit racing or your local speed shop, think it cost me about 60 bucks more for it.

Thanks guys, I should have all the info needed to install the afpr this weekend.
E-reps given :rocks: :dsm: ...

I'll search more about what to use to lubricate the barbed fitting to help ease the install of the fuel hose. Well, I guess oil or vasoline will work :dsm:

actually the "clampless" fitting you have can be used with regular "fuel grade" hose you can get a any parts store. as stated, you do not use a clamp as it can cut into the hose. you can use vasoline or oil, the tiny bit you use will not make any difference. i used vasoline on my return fitting from the fpr to the tank, and also the o-ring in the fuel pump.

Thanks for all the help guys! I've got it installed with no leaks and she idles like a champ without the intermitten sputtering. Now I just need to find out why the motor surges at 2k while pressing the gas steady.
