The last 2 days my car has had a hard time maintaining it's power when idling. It started when I disconnected my battery to do various types of work that are not related to this problem at all. When I start the car, it has a very strong start, but as soon as it starts to run it loses it's power and shuts off. Could this be the MAF sensor???

Thanks people!

Could it also be an O2 Sensor??? I replaced the one before the cat converter 4 weeks ago, but I know the one after the converter needs to be replaced as well. I can smell that the car is running a little rich, but would a bad O2 Sensor keep the car from maintaing power, especially since it's not even the primary O2 Sensor???

Well I cleaned out the air intake, carb intake, and tightened the throttle cable to get rid of some slack. For the first time it actually starts the way it should; it has a strong start as the RPM's start at 2200, and decrease to it's initial idle @1150. The intake sounds cleaner now as well.

Well the problem happend again... I did more troubleshooting and realized that the IAC motor (Idle Air Control) was malfunctioning, because it was not putting out the proper output. So I pulled of my Throttle Body and cleaned it out (since I had to take it off to get to the IAC motor anyways), replaced the IAC motor, and replaced the Throttle Body Gasket. Problem solved! It's been good ever since, and actually heats up faster during these winter temps now than it did before. The IAC motor costs around 50 bucks in case others need to know.
