 WTF

today I finally did a boost leak test, and I have a big question. first off I had air coming out of a vroken vacum tube. replaced it quickly then had another leak and could not for the life of me firgure it out. then I found it was coming from behind the compressor housing. I thought it was the turbo outlet pipe gasket. But I actually used a rubber tube to listen with and found it was coming from behind the compressor housing down about right where the wastegate bar area is on it. :dsm:

Your big question came off rather like a statement. Are you o.k. with what you found, or are you looking for a fix?

Take your car to a local mechanic who has a smoke machine. It's a lot easier to pinpoint a vaccum leak with the smoke. That way you will know for sure where the leak is coming from. Most of the time, listening doesn't always work.

yeah I'm looking for a fix and wondering if anyone else has had it to?
There is a seal in between the compressor housing and the CHRA which is known to leak. Do a search on this, I remember reading a thread while back which how and where to get the seal. To continue the test for now, move the tester to the licp bypassing the turbo, spray soapy water on everything connection between turbo and intake manifold.

Soap and water have always worked for me as long as the system is pressurized. Do you have a MBC? If so, where is it connected on the source?

Sorry I don't have a MBC, I have pretty basic mods. It and a exhaust are the next mods, along with some light weight rims.

But thanks for the soapy water Idea I can't beleive I didn't think about that.
