I just changed lifters and to a Turbo intake cam and when I try to start it acts like it wants to start but it dont, I checked compression on all the cylinders and I got right to left 0,0,120,0 I know it is in time any other ideas on what could be wrong? It's really beginning to irritate me.

I also took off all the Vac lines and all the A/C stuff and done a Fuel Pump rewire but none of that should have anything to do with my current problems.

Thanks

If this problem did not exist before the swap, I would suspect the lifters are not bled.

I've seen this post on here before but it fails me as to where.

I'll try to find it

Good Luck

Did you pre-oil the lifters? If so, did you pump all the oil out of the lifters before you install them?

It didn't exist before the swap and I rigged up a leakdown tester and it seem that all the air is coming out the throttle body. Timing is right on.

they were used lifters, and no i didn't bleed them all off b/c i just kept bending the paper clips.

i rigged up a leak down tester and this is what I got from right to left, #1 Air came threw the Throttle Body, #2 air went threw the manifold #3 Not sure where the air was goin but it was goin somewhere #4 a lil bit was coming threw the Throttle Body.

When I had the Timing belt off I changed the clutch also and I did mess up and turn the crank without the timing belt but all the lifters and rocker arms were removed so their for the valves shoulda all been up right?

so...you didn't re-time the engine when you put in the new cam? you better hope you didn't bend any valves in this little extravaganza to hell that you've taken.

yes sir I re-timed the engine before i put it back together and every one of the marks were right on.

well to me it seems like when your at tdc: intake valves are open on cylinder one, exhaust valves are open on cylinder 2, cylider 3 may be leaking around the rings (if it sounds like it's coming out the dipstick tube, that's bad rings), and cylinder 4 sounds like the intake valves are open again.

that's a hell of a lot of bad timing and bad rings on #3, that's one screwed up motor.

I have checked the timing 2 or 3 times and it's right on. my next question is their anything else it could be other than bent valves? if so start naming them off and I will start checking them. I dont wanna pull the head and it be something really stupid.

if you've done a leak-down test, compression test, and made sure 100% that the timing was exact then you might have to pull the head.

although, i'm starting to wonder if that new cam doesn't have something to do with it. maybe try installing the old one and see if that fixes the problem.

Well i talked to Gary from Mitsu graveyard and he said to pull valve cover and check and see if any rocker arms are cocked or off and if their is I got bent valves.

Also i took the fuel line off from the top of the filter and wrapped a rag around it and turned the car over. I got no fuel.

So i'm hooking Fuel Pump back up stock way and pulling the valve cover I'll let ya know more when i figure out more.

EDIT i took valve cover off and i got no rocker arms off or none cocked.

My guess is this, you didn't bleed the lifter and some of them was probably filled with oil causing the valves to extend when you torqued down the cam, bent valves.

well it dont seem to be missing or anything so i guess I'm just gunna drive it like I stole it and see what happens. i may or may not need a head but time will tell.

Well man i dunno wth is goin on, I done another compression test and here are the results pass side to drivers side 185, 183, 187, 185 it was also warmed up to operating temperature.

Kinda weird huh? But I'm definitely not complaining

Did you individually put each cylinder in TDC when you performed this so call leakdown? Glad it's OK anyway. :thumb:

no i didn't and i'd say thats why the air was leaving the cylinders.
