Hi I have a 90 AWD TSI and for a while I've heard a clicking noise in the middle/rear of my car that happens whenever I start moving and does not go away when I press in the clutch/brake. I was going to inspect it soon but something else just happened that I think might be related to it.

I was on the way out of my driveway and I noticed my car felt sluggish when I started rolling to a stop. I decided since I was only comming out of the driveway to just wait and check up on it tomorrow. When I go to bring up the e-brake I notice there is no pressure bringing it up and it feels like it is stuck on. The brake light is not on.

My question is do you think the clicking noise I heard, which still goes on, is related to this? Also, what should I do to go about diagnosing/fixing this since it seems like it is somehow stuck on.

If I remember correctly, your e-brake light is a sensor from your ebrake. If the handle is at a certain position or maybe if the line is at a certain position it comes on. So on the e-brake light, it might not come on because of the ebrake sensor setup.

Thanks for the help, apparently it could be my trasnfer case / rear locked up causing the ebrake to stick. The clicking noise I heard also directly relates to either of those I would imagine. Anyone else have any ideas?

wow unreal, my dad and I inspected the rear brakes turns out the caliper rotor pad and line job that was supposed to be done a year ago by none other then pep boys, was never actually done. the caliper froze causing this to happen so we are going to replace tommorow morning.
