i was wondering if crushing a stock 1g bov to much would cause the turbo to hold to much pressure and blow my turbo. cause the guy i got the car from crushed it and the top is all smashed in as well as bring crushed too will that have any affect on the way my car runs?

Of course. A 1g bov that's crushed too much will not function at all. The shock waves from the throttle slamming the door on the pressurized air will eventually take a toll on the turbo.

The only way to test if it has been overcrushed before you test it out is to use a vacuum pump. I have found that the BOV's work well crushed up to 21 in mercury(I believe those are the right units on the pump?) but 21 on the gauge none the less. Mine holds 22psi and blows off fine. All you do is hook up the pump, start pumping and when it gets close to 21 check to see if the valve on the BOV is starting to open. If it opens slightly at 20-21 it should work great.

Are you experiencing problems with your car now or are you just worried that the crushed BOV might be a potential issue?

Mine is crushed to the point that the vacume nipple on the "top hat" is flush with the "lower hat" (i.e. not bent at all and parrallel to the flange). At this point it held 20psi fine, but by combining that with the Dodge Garage mod, it holds 30psi and still operates well :D

As wret mentions, over-crushing will defeat the benefit of a BOV (i.e. relieving pressure post turbo / pre BOV between shifts) :dsm:
