Hey guys I have a 91 eagle talon non turbo automatic and it has been acting weird lately. Sometimes when I go to crank up my car in the morning, it doesn't want to start and doesn't want to try to fire. After I try cranking it about 5 or 6 times it will start right up. its happened to my twice this week. Next thing is that when i crank it up when its cold it will idle at about 1100 rpms in gear. the warmer the car gets the lower it wants to idle in gear until it idles at 500 rpms and wants to stall everytime i stop. Which also makes it so when i start it when its warm it trys to stall when i put it in gear. What could this be and are these 2 events caused by the same problem.

If this helps at all there was a new/used tranny installed that was rebuilt. Its also still has a bad lack of power.

Thanks for your input.

Kevin

Sounds to me kinda like a fuel pressure problem, or maybe a ecu taking a dirt nap. The isc sounds like its doing its job, but I think your base idle is set too low. Vfaq has info on how to adjust the base idle (I believe, if not let me know). For info on checking your ecu you can find out a lot by doing a search on here since its been talked about lots of times. :dsm:

I would agree to check your fuel system first such as fuel filter and so on and then check the ecu.

There is a good right up on the vfaq about how to adjust the base idle. Did you have the battery out to change the tranny. If so the ecu needs to relearn the idle so you may need to readjust it.
