Does Anyone know the easiest method to remove the knock sensor on a 2g. I could get the Stay Off. That all I could do. or should I just wheel it to Satan and his demons & let them deal with it. Or how could I test the sensor to see if its ok..Thanx

It should just be an adjustable wrench and some elbow grease to get it off. You may have to remove the battery and battery tray to get to it, but it shouldn't be that difficult to remove.

The only way to test that sensor is with an oscilloscope. The knock sensor is nothing more than a microphone that's tuned to filter out anything outside of the 6Khz range which is the frequency that these blocks knock at. No o'scope, no testing.

Testing the sensor doesn't require taking it off. Doing so will actually throw the car into limp mode. The best way to verify correct operation is to log a third gear pull and looks for dips in timing (on a 2G) or physical knock on a 1G. You can remove it however to see if it's covered in goo. If so, it likely needs to be replaced. Also be careful when re-installing the sensor as overtightening will result in false knock readings. I would also pay attention to Qausimodo's recommendations above. An oscilliscope would be the best way to go.

Hope that helps,

Andy
