Hey,

I've searched on this but haven't come across any relevant information. The problem I'm having is wierd. I've had the car for a year and a couple months and it always pulled hard and smooth when I wanted it too. Now, it seems to just be slow lately -- meaning that when I accelerate (both light and hard), it feels like I'm pushing the car too hard (like it doesn't want to boost). It kinda has a slight grinding feel/sound to it all throughout the power band. My car still boosts, just not as hard and as smooth as before. My car is completely stock (including the stock T25 - going on 123K) aside from NGK 6es plugs and MSD wires.

Car seems to drive fine otherwise, no mechanical problems or clouds of white smoke. Just a lack of full boost or reasonable power.

I guess my question is, what is the problem. If the turbo is the problem, would I still be able to drive the car with a dead turbo in the car for a long time? I don't have the money needed to do what I ultimatly would like to for a year or so.

I'd suggest you pop the intake off and check for excessive shaft play and of course check for boost leaks. Grinding is often the wheel hitting the housing so check that out.I used my t25 with a blown seal and extreme shaft play both left right in and out for about 3-4 months. Of course it's not going to feel great and if it has bad shaft play it'll probably start hitting the walls. If it's a blown seal the smoking will get pretty bad as it did on mine.If the wheel is hitting I wouldn't use it as things could go in your engine. T25's, 14B's are relatively cheap. Hope I helped, and don't forget to a maintenance check ( plugs, wires, belts, compression, etc)

Just some advice, if it does turn out to be a bad turbo, I'd just replace it with a 14b. It's gonna cost you about 200 bucks and you can just swap it in with minimum effort. You'll just need some extra stuff that you can search for on this forum. Do that you and you have 30 extra hp off the bat.

Anyways, it does sound like a bad turbo. If you shaft play is bad, I'd start lookin. If there are bent fins, def. start lookin. Good luck. :thumb:

Thanks guys for your replys. I'll check that soon when I get some time and a garage. I really would like to save up for a TO4B, but there is just no way I can do that cause I need to many supporting mods. I was hoping it would hold up a while longer, but seems like that may not happen  Guess it's a T25/14B for the time being.

Oh well,

Steve
