Ok guys real new here, so be gentle. First, yes I have read the FAQ's and done searches. Yes I have found similar problems, but not the same so here goes.

My wife brings her 2000 Eclipse GT home, "Service Engine Soon" light is on and she says car is not running like it used to. I drive it and it seems perfect. No hesitation, runs like a scalded bandit, idles perfect. We take it to the local Advance Auto Parts store and they run the diag. General scan tool error code P0141"Downstream HO2S heater failure (M/T), Harness and connector/Downstream HO2S." We drive it home and she drives it to work yesterday and me the backyard OLD mechanic does some web searching. She comes home and I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. (Car has still been running fine and no problem other than check light to me.) Connect the battery, start engine, no check light, revs fine, let off gas, engine dies. Turn key, engine starts, dies at idle. Start engine revs fine runs great, but will not idle. No hesitation or rough idling with slight throttle, but dies as soon as the gas pedal is released.

Ok, disconnecting battery got me in this situation, maybe it will get me out. Disconnect battery for ten minutes, reconnect, start engine, viola, it now idles fine and no check light. Problem solved....... Not so fast....turn key off, start engine again, dies....again....dies. Disconnect battery....reconnect start runs and idles fine.....turn key off...starts, dies. Runs fine with gas, won't idle. No unusual smells...nothing. So it has been sitting over night with the battery disconnected and I will try again today, but help would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post, but wanted to provide details. But that damn check light isn't on any more!!!

Solution: Disconnected battery and let sit overnight. Connected battery and started engine, let set for about 15 minutes running to make sure it wasn't going to come off idle and die. Then drove the car for about a half hour and returned home cut off engine and restarted and idled fine.

Thanks for all the help! :D
