My buddy bought a used tranny from a 90 gsx and got the tcase with it from a dsmtuner member and he said there was nothing wrong with it when we bought it and he is a pretty respectable guy. Well we got it all in a for some reason 3rd gear is where fifth is supposed to be and there is no 5th and reverse? Could we have hooked something up wrong. We put a 90 tranny and tcase in a 91. Thanks a lot.

Almost has to be cables hooked up backwards. Nothing else can be moved to perform in that manner. Let us know. This really intrigues me as I've never done it and am curious as to the results. Good Luck

Well thats what we thought and we switched the shift linkage cables but if we switch them the tranny is even more messed up. Because this car is a 91 and we are using the shifter from it could it be we need a 90 shifter for a 90 tranny?

your cables are hooked up wrong, or they are improperly adjusted.

I kind of remember hearing that a 90 tansmission has a diff shifter bracket, but i cant remember
