i have a 420a i have never drivin it myself i bought it from a guy who bought it for the computer , the guy he bought it from heard a rattling and thought it was the valves so he took it apart not knowing what he was doing and messed everything up so thats why it was so so when i ended up with it i had alot of work to do ...ive finally got it running starts up everytime and doesnt cut off my problem is the rattling ...the removable part on the timing cover is gone so i can see whats going on and the timing belt is all over the place when it runs it bouces everywhere....i also recently found a black metal o ring around the back of the timing belt its a little over 2 inches and i dont knwo what it is to ...so i need to know what that is and the rattling noise sounds like it is coming from the cam gears any answers to this i would greatly appreciate it and another ? not as critical ... my buddy said i should get rid of my egr what would that do ? :dsm:

Maybe one of the t-belt pulleys is fubared or something fell down the timing cover
