Clutch Booster?

When i press down on the clutch i hear a release of air coming from somewhere to the left of my steering column. How loud and how constant all depends on how far i push the clutch in. I took it to a friend over at Midas, and he diagnosed it as a leaking Clutch Booster, but when he called Mitsu for the part Mitsu said that the car doesn't have a Clutch Booster . What could it be then? Could this cause my car to also have a boost leak? My gauge only reads a max of 3psi and it doesn't even read the mmHg anymore. At idle and decelaration it stays at 0 or 1psi!! When the gauge was first installed i was at 12-13psi and 15-20 mmhg on decelaration and idle. Also, my first gear is starting to slip.... WTF What is the root of all this evil?

Have you checked your clutch master cylinder? I've had to change mine. I had a leak that was leaking fluid into the cabin. I went ahead and changed my clutch slave cylinder as well (since it was old too). The only booster in your vehicle is for the brakes (which rarely needs to be changed). Another thing you may want to check is the clutch fluid reservoir (it may have some type of leak in it), check the lines as well.

Clutch does not have a booster. The brake does and although I have never changed on on a Mitsubishi they do go bad. Remove the brake booster hose, seal it and repeat the procedure with the clutch. Just for kicks. If you still have whooshing noise then you got me. Let me know
