SO this problem started last week, out of nowhere, when i turn the key in the ignition, the car will not start. It doesnt even "try", like it just will not do anything. I know its not a dead battery because its only a matter of months old and i tried jump starting it but still will do nothing. So i turn the key and all you hear is like a light buzzing sound (enery traveling through?) but thats it. Last week it started up out of nowhere and ran fine for about a week, but today it does the same thing. anyone know what may be causing this? thanks soo much. im stuck at my university because of this. any help appreciated!

if the lights and everything work then look inside the dash behind the radio...there is a relay there that is black with a black connector area on it..rap a piece of wire around the 2 horizontal pins and push the relay back in then try starting it...that should get you running

I have the same problem and it's completely random. I thought it was the ignition switch or starter but I haven't really invested any time into looking for the problem. I just use my remote start instead and it starts right up every time.

would that work also with the turbo engine?

Both of you should try and clean the battery terminals really well and make sure it's nice and tight. If that doesn't work, lightly tap the starter with a wooden hammer.

one of the first things i did was clean the battery terminals so i know thats not it. As for tapping the starter, would that have to be done every time before i start it? also, i know this is a stupid question, but where exactly is the starter located on the 4G63? thanks.

No, if it works after you tap it, it will work for a while. This also means that it's on its way out and you should replace it anyway.

It's attached to the block under the TB, it's big so you can't miss it. You should invest in a service manual. :)

Sounds like the same problem I am having. I just replaced my starter...I am pretty sure it's the ignition switch.

not working

I checked the battery as well with no avail. I think it's the ignition switch because the remote start uses the starter but not the ignition switch and it starts everytime that way.

The remote start came with my alarm, which could cost up to $450 for install and alarm. I didn't pay that much but it could cost up to that.

Turn on your dome light (ON, not auto-door).
Try starting the car. Watch the dome light. If it flickers or goes out, it's likely that your battery terminals (even though they SEEM tight) are loose or corroding. The interior lights are MUCH less a power draw than the starter.
Pull the positive lead off the battery, and use a cleaner brush on the inside of it, then on the post. Put the lead back on the battery, and tap it down with the bottom of a plastic screwdriver or wooden hammer. Just make sure it's wedged down there real good.

Mine was doing this for a while... I started carrying a terminal cleaner brush in the car all the time, as I didn't want to keep using my swiss army knife to scrape away the outer layer of the lead; get it good and shiny and it starts up every time for me.
