well i have a boost problem, well i figured thats whhat it is. i just did a hg job on my grandfathers 92 tsi awd. hes got a cometic hg, arp studs, 3 in dp, apexi exhaust, 14b, 450 injectors (was auto injectors), walbro 255 pump. basically every upgrade nessary to run 16 psi. well this is the 3rd hg on a turbo dsm i did and for two weeks the car was great, but i turned up the boost to 16 psi on a new 14b about 500 miles. and after 3 days the car one day messin with a local vette guy backfired and lots all power. compression test was good, boost leak tested all pipes and bov (when checkin blow off you have to put pressure into the vacum port on the bov right to keep it closed?) intake gasket pressure test good. the only thing that hasnt been checked was the intercooler which ill do tomorrow. the timing at 5-7 degrees. the car still runs fine idles fine but as soon as you go to spool it will not build no boost at all just zero  its got me, the only other thing is that i heard that the flapper can burn or get stock open. im gonna check that tomorrow to see if its open the wastegate actuator is stiff and seems to have it closed. so is there any suggestions to whast the prob? or has anyone had this prob? thanks to anyone that has a clue!!!

I can barely understand what your saying.

Check the wastegate flapper. Make sure it's not stuck open.

I had my 16G stick open one time due to pressure being trapped in the vac line from the boost controller.

wel i took off the o2 housing and the flapper is fine but something was missing?? ??...........Oh yeah it was the damn turbine wheel it was gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the 14b was brand new and was broken in for about 500 miles until i boosted it above stock. it lasted two weeks and now the cars screwed!!!

Oh man that made me laugh so hard, sorry. Did the nut just back off or was the wheel all chewed up? If the nut backed off you might be able to get it warrantied.

Sucks that that turbo died so quickly. Did you take a look at the oil feed line to see if it was blocked?

the oil lines were all new cuz the car was an auto with a 13g turbo so we got all new lines for the oil feed and the others cuz the old ones were rusty also. the nut didnt fall off because it looked like the turbine shaft sheared off right near the back of the housing where the smooth edge of the turbine sits flush with the exhaust housing (kinda hard to explain, hopefully youll get it) This does suck because that turbo had a lot more power on the top end where the 13g fades off. plus we put on a 3in ss downpipe and i proted and polished everything. so she went good for two weeks now over winter we will be putting in a new evo 3 16g unless someone has a cheap 14b they wanna sell.

At least it did not take the engine with it!

I had a friend loose his built engine AND a $1500 ball-bearing turbo. Good luck on the EVO III. You will like it better ;)

Street racing is bad, neener neener neener.

did i say stracing? mope i said messin that could be anywhere from revving (which is ghey) to brake boostin and just takin off like a bat out of hell until you reach the speed limit. LOL but anyways its good that it didnt take the engine it really couldnt unless the compressor wheel broke and pieces went into the engine. but its good that it didnt nonetheless. :thumb:

yeah im sure we'll like the evo 3 better but i showed my grandfather the 50 trim I'm getting and he's kinda jealous LOL.
