calgary,
I have had this for a couple of weeks now. Here is some background. I ported the o2 housing and turbo. No CEL. Week later Then took off the back part of the cat cause I couldn't get the front one and bolted it back into place cause I was getting a hi-Flo cat. The next morning i got a cel. I have notice my gas milage is crap. Driving very very conservatively it may get 200miles out of a 12 galons . Thats about 17MPG. I was thinking it was maybe front o2 sensor . I did have to cut the wires on it to get the box end around the o2 sensor to get it out when I ported it but I soldered it all back up right.
I hope this is enough info for you guru's. Than for the help as always.

PS Is it always going to throw a cell with the hi-Flo cat anyways? I am going to a full 3" exhaust and getting rid of the cat and second 02 sensor. Will I have to do the wiring to trick the ecu about the second 02 sensor.

Sorry for all the dumb questions and I did search.. TTY

Did you get your CEL pulled? What was it? I'm thinking your front o2 sensor isn't working right.

Yea, pull the code and see what it is.

If you have access to a multi-meter (basically any volt meter) plug it into your o2 sensor wire to your ECU and see what its doing. You want it to cycle between 0.00 and 1.00 if its working right. As for your cat, if you gut it, your car will flag a CEL as the rear o2 is there to measure the efficiency of the catalytic converter. I have a high flow cat on my 3'' turboback and I have no CELs.

Haven't pulled the cell yet. Didn't really want to pay someone to do that. Maybe one of the auto stores will pull it for me. I was going to check the 02 sensor but got lazy. Is it the blue wire on the o2 sensor that is the output to the ECU? Thanx

i knew someone who once used a high flow cat and got a CEL. turned out it was PO 420 - system catalyst below threshold. not a prob. see what you get. i would do it for you but i'm kinda far away.

The Autozones and Advance Autos around here will usually pull codes for free. Make friends with someone that works at one in your area and have them check it.
