I am having trouble with my car boost creeping when I shift. Since my car has a built auto-trans I dont loose boost when the car shifts, which then almost always ends up boost creeping 3-4 psi for a split second, and every once and a while it will creep up to as much as 5-8psi. (NOT A GOOD THING) :nono: As far as tuning i use the Apex AVCR boost controller and a datalogger. Im not 100% sure that I have it all set up correctly for an auto and there arnt to many people that actually spend the time and money to build an auto...soooo as you can see I'm in a little bit of a snag. Has anyone out there tuned the avcr with an auto or does anyone have any suggestions.
I've also read that in an auto the timing is pulled when the car shifts, and I'm not sure if that could have any affect on the boost creep. I also fogot to add in my mod list that I am running a ported 2nd gen exhaust manifold but i was in a hurry and did not port the O2 housing which may cause a little bit of boost creep but I dont think that it would make it boost creep really high.

I think it would be good if everyone that runs that AVCR would post up their settings to help some people even get a staring point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards -Nate-

I don't run an AVCR, i run a manual TXS Boost controller. I was just wondering what turbo your running. Are you running supra injectors, your mod list says 440cc. 3500 stall is what i'm getting out of my stock converter. My boost goes up about 3lbs when i shift. Increase in boost is normal for auto.

Sorry typo on the injectors. they are 450cc.
I got my torque converter from IPT. John says that it should be around a 3500 stall. Thats before the car actually starts pulling not just how long I can hold it. A stock TC shouldnt stall that high, but I may be wrong. that may be a good question for john at IPT. I actually run a 14b that I know was rebuilt. I purchased it from one of my good friends so I know it wasnt some ebay b/s. when he bought his car he got reciepts with it saying that it was rebuilt but no other details. I think that It might have a different compressor wheel.
It is by far the absolute loudest 14b I have ever heard. :thumb:

The more I have read about guys with the autos it seems to be that they all boost creep a little. I would be curious to see what some of the guys that run un the 10s and 11s have for boost creep if any.

You have a 2G exhaust manifold ported. Unported 14b, unported o2 housing, and stock exhaust correct?
If so you should not be creeping 5-8 psi. Stock exhaust has backpressure (ick!) and kinda controls creep for the most part. You open up that exhaust and you'll see 5-8 psi worth of creeping pretty easily. I creep from 13.5 psi to 16 psi through every gear. Which my car isn't fond of at all. I tried to adjust it to 15 psi worth of creep which means it's tuned to 13psi steady, but my boost controller is manual and not always the easiest to fine tune... and I'm lazy.
Anywho...
3 psi or so worth of "shift creep" is normal. 5-8 psi isn't. Your wastegate may be a little rusty and not disengaging properly. Get the rest of that stuff ported, and you're golden.

Once again I forgot to put something on my mod page. I do run the apex n1 full exhaust. I would bet that a lot of the b/c is coming from that damn 02 housing. Another winter project is on the way. Thanks for the input.
