anyone know what would happen if the wires for the stock oil pressure gauge shorted out?

when installing my fmic piping i ended up breaking the wire for it (accident) and i think it shorted itself out on the piping. my oil pressure gauge is stuck all the way to the right and doesnt move at all. Thats why im asking this question. Thanks for all help :thumb:

and i know, a aftermarket oil pressure gauge is in future plans

i know its not hurting anything but i would just like to try and fix it. I like everything to work properly, esp. for a 91 to work excellent, just makes me feel better bout myself and my abilities. :D

The oil pressure sender unit is just a variable resistor to ground so you can ground that wire and the gauge needle should move to the other side (with key on). If it doesn't then the wire is broken or the gauge isn't working. If the fuel and temp gauges also don't work, the 10A fuse is blown.

gauge should move to which side if grounded? At this point it is all the way to the right (high pressure). so would it be grounded or have no ground to it??
