I am trying to repair a 1997 Talon ESI 5 speed with the "Y" motor.
This car is in great shape. It only has 37,000 miles on it and was bought new and driven only 2 miles to work and back by a middle-aged woman.
The engine bay is so clean you can eat off it. The owner has replaced the fuel pump and had a full tune up done. I have replaced the TB gasket, Idle speed motor, and MAP. I have check all vac lines and other fittings. I cleaned the TB with a toothbrush.
It stalls mostly when cold. The car idles up normally and the idle is controlled properly with A/C, fans, comming to a stop, ect. It always starts right back up and does not stall again untill to shut it off. VERY rarely it will "buck" in gear at speed. Only once a week or so.
It never throws a code.
What else could it be? The car runs so well all the rest of the time.
