I was looking into purchasing a 1990 Talon AWD 5 speed with 110k miles but during the test drive there was an odd squealing noise coming from the engine bay. It only happened when the car was in gear (any gear) traveling from 25 to about 40 mph and then at that time it would clear up. It wasn't happening while it was revved in the driveway. Being in or out of boost made no difference. When the squealing was occurring there was no noticeable loss of power and the car seemed fine outside of that. I'm pretty sure the noise was coming from the drivers side but I was running out of daylight and time to try and diagnose the problem further. What I figure is that there is a loose/bad belt, or a pump going bad, but I'd rather run it past the pro's first. I hope I explained this in enough detail for someone to give me a hand, thank you.

Take a peek at the power steering & alternator belts. If they're loose or glazed, they will squeal.
