ok, heres what's up. now ive been drivin my car for 4 months now and have not once smelled my clutch before. i have a ACT 2600 clutch and with my mod's there's no way i'm over-powering it. but the other night at the track i ran 4 runs then on my 5th run when i hit 3rd gear my car tached out as if the clutch was in... it wasn't of course so i put it in neutral and coasted the rest of the way (yay for 16 second-quarters!) got back around parked it, popped the hood and was hit with the most foul, strongest burning clutch smell i've ever expereinced. looked at my clutch fluid reservoir and it was bone dry. now i realize im a complete idiot for doing this but i just dumped some fluid in it, let it cool down and raced again. got 2 more runs in before it did it again on the 3rd time. only this time, there was still fluid in it. got her home, lifted it and found the clutch's slave cylindar is leaking. the problem isn't new for me ive already replaced the slave before because it was dumping fluid before. however, this one is only a month old and is doing it again. now back on topic, today i was driving around on the streets (driving normally, not doing anything stupid) and i got back home and smelled the clutch again, only not so strong. a friend of mine is guessing that either my entire hydraulic system on my clutch is toast or that my friction plate is toast. my whole clutch assembly (friction plate included) is less than a year old with about 18000 miles on it.

you might want to removed the clutch accumulator and clutch restrictor. With a heavy clutch like ACT 2600 the stock hydraulic system just cant handle that kind of force with the accumulator in its path.

ok i just read how to remove the restrictor on vfaq.com. the effect that they described is a lot like what i'm hoping to accomplish, but will this hurt anything in the tranny and/or clutch? also, i was thinking about it and realized that when in neutral, if i rev up to about 6500 rpm the clutch pedal actually sinks a little bit. not enough for it to engage, but enough where it's noticable. would removing the restrictor prevent that from happening as well?

Removing the restrictor wont hurt anything it was made to make the clutch engagement softer to prolong the clutch disk life. You should also remove the clutch accumulator. With a heavy clutch like ACT 2600 you definitely should. Anyway did you install the ACT 2600 clutch or did some one else do it. Iam just asking because maybe the flywheel has not been stepped for the 2600 pressure plate. Anyway of the subject a bit do you cruise around on division cuzz i thought i saw your car on division before.

clutch was done by the previous owner so like some other things that were done, im a little iffy about the whole thing.
yeah i drive on division now and then, and if youve seen a 2Gb pearlescent red eclipse with a FMIC, thats me, there arent any other cars in spokane like mine, except a few knock-off N/As in Cayenne red with turbo body kits
