My 1990 eclipse gs-t always takes alot of cranking to start unless i turn the ignition on for a minute and wait to hear a click.i know this has to be an ignition or relay problem if someone could help me narrow down what it could be that would be greatly appreciated.

Does it crank slowly or normally? If it cranks slowly, your battery might not be charging properly or you could have loose/corroded connections on your battery, but if it cranks normally make sure you are not loosing any fuel pressure. Check for fuel pressure if it cranks normally. It may be loosing fuel pressure every time you let it sit.

i dont think it has to do with fuel pressure it starts fine when i hear the click, its inside the engine bay by the way. I think it has something to do with a relay or maybe the power transistor or coil pack?
