hi, Ok, My cars BOV is currently venting to the atmosphere (it was like that when I brought it. it will be changed) Now I'm sure the car is running rich. Now I'm not sure weather or not it is possible for a car running rich to create white smoke or would that be black? I've heard conflicting information. Cause my car is producing a lot of white smoke.

Sometimes worse than others. once it warms up its not that bad. But it becomes worse as
engine speed increases. Theres a bunch of smoke coming form the mainfold/turbo area, I replaced the exhaust manifold gasket when I replaced the turbo, I'm guessing that there might be some cracks somewhere. I didn't notice anything major when I inspected the manifold though.

I pretty sure it's not coolant. My last car did that so I'm pretty familiar with the color and smell. Doesn't smell like oil, doesn't really look like it, Though there might be some burning (after all its 15years old.) But It does smell like fuel, so thats why I ask. The gas milage is piss poor also. again pointing to running rich.

I've done a leakdown test. All the cylinders were good except one, it was a little low but not major. Compression was good, but if heard if its oil it can seal the rings. The car has a catback and midpipe. Fresh 14b I just installed. and that wretched Turboxs BOV. Any thoughs on what could it to run rich besides the BOV?

Any help appreciated. Thanks

White=coolant
Blue=Oil
Black=Fuel
That is set in stone.

If you're blowing white smoke is more than likely a headgasket. What were your compression numbers and how did you do the test? No, there are no "coolant seals" in the turbo that go bad and cause that to smoke. (I figured I would throw that out there now so someone doesn't come in here and confuse you).

Sorry, I got a bit carried away, Let me take one question at a time.

The car is running rich none the less. Can a non recirculating BOV cause a car to run rich all the time even at Idle. Didn't seem like it would to me but I figured I'd ask. I've read the FAQ a while ago but theres alot of info to sort through. The previous owner also removed the large honeycomb from the MAS. Could that have an affect. Thanks

The honeycomb is causing your MAF sensor to read in accurately. The only ones you're supposed to remove are the ones on the side. I would try and put the honeycomb back in or get a new MAF. Also, recirculating your BOV isn't the best thing in the world. Your car will run better when you get that problem fixed as well.
