i just got a 90 talon tsi fwd,and one thing ive noticed is that it has a hard time going up hills from a dead stop,if im taking off on level ground its ok but could be better.the car is 100%stock and never touched.evry time i try to go up my driveway it seems like i have no power and it struggles to go, on the strret up hill it struggles until the turbo kicks in then its fine.any suggestons? thanks

Check your compression because I have low compression on my 6 bolt myself and until the turbo starts boosting the car lags because of this. And also check for boost leaks. This will also cause your car to be slow when you start moving

oh god!! low compression means junk motor correct?? what should my compression #'s be? oh and i just changed my plugs and wires 5 minutes ago the plugs where white at the tips and the wires were burnt and broke apart.now it seems to take off a little better. so what can i do to fix a compression problem if i have one? the car blows no smoke what so ever and does not smoke while in boost either.you think my catalitic converter could be a problem?i just had the down pipe to the cat replaced today with 2 1/2 inch pipe should i have gone larger than that?

If their isn't any smoke then you should be ok but I would check the compression anyways to make sure the engine is in good condition. The numbers that you get with the compression test should be pretty close to eachother. The service limit for a 6 bolt is 121 psi. But mainly check for boost leaks. You should periodically check for boost leaks because that is the best thing to do for a turbo car is fix these. They eat your gas up and sometimes cause high idle. Plus if you have some leaks it will make you run rich because their is more air in the system then the mass air flow sensor is reading and causing the o2 sensor to read lean which then adds more fuel and causes bogging when accelerating.

Just make one of these and put compressed air into it and listen for hissing and spray everything with soap and water. If there is a leak most of the time the soak and water will bubble where the leak is. IC pipe tester
