So I got my car running good the other day, and then when I drove it today, a few things seemed odd.
1. I was driving ~75% Throttle, and there was a loud bang/jerk/something from the car. The car continued to run fine, so i figured it was nothing.
2. I took the car home because it threw a shift cable b/c the mechanic apparently didn't replace the retainer ring, and let it cool off.
3. Took the car back out, and when I boosted in 3rd gear(when i got on it ~80%) the boost didn't stop at 10psi where I had it set, but instead climbed steadily to almost 20 before I realized it and lifted. I also noticed that the bov didn't make any noise(vented) and I didn't hear the turbo spool, which is usually fairly loud...

I'm confused...the boost gauge is reading a lot of pressure, but I didnt hear the turbo spooling and the bov doesnt sound off when I lift...Any suggestions?

nothing? I would have pulled over the second I felt it happen.

Like ChicksDigBoost said. Boost leak test then let us know what you find.

the bang/jerk was problem the fuel cutoff. if boost get up to or past about 14psi the fuel will cutout. basiclly the engine is keeping itself from running lean and melting the pistons

I think we heard you the first time. ROFL

No, fuel cut will not happen at 14psi unless you have some serious boost pressure leakage. Questions for the thread starter, anything else done to the car lately? What did you have to remove in fixing this shift cable problem?

I know this is late, and I'm not sure if you've fixed the problem but it sounds like the line to your wastegate fell off, allowing you to run as much boost as the turbo can, probably also tapped into your BOV line so I'm guessing it came off from the intake manifold.
