i just installed a 16g. when i got the car running i noticed that my hks ssqv sounded different. my bov was vented cuz i am running really lean, so this was a cheap way for a lil more fuel. anyways, i just noticed that there is no air blowing out the vlave when i rev it but i hear the stuttering. i know this is compressor surge and is sometimes normal when revving. but tonite i strapped down a whistle to the bov to see if it was releasing air under a load, and i got no whistles.
my hks bov is staying shut the wehole time. at any rpm and at different boost levels. i know the bov used to work befor ethe turbo so swap so i am stumped.
i even have the stock 2g bov in there now, so please help me.

thanks
matt

All I can say is I had that problem too, I backed out the screw as much as I could and it worked. Yours might not have one though and if you already tried it then check the connections maybe even open it up to see if their is anything visibly wrong. Good luck

mine has the screw on the back, i messed iwth it and noting changes no matter where it is at. also i took apart the bov and everything appears to be ok. i can push the spring in with my finger, so i think that part is ok.

another thing i didnt say was that i have the stock bov on and it is working fine. it is blowing air like it should. so i am geussing the hks took a shit on me or it just sucks.

First off if you're running lean, venting the bov won't help. It'll only make you run rich when the throttle plate is closed which has nothing to do with saving your motor.

Secondly, I'd assume there's some sort of vacuum hose routing situation taking place here if neither bov are working corectly.

I'm not a big fan of the HKS bov and I can probably tell you whats wrong with it. The small metal tube that connects to the vaccum line is probably pushed in either from slamming the hood on it or installing the vaccuum line. When this happens, the diaphram is held shut and does not allow the bov to "blow off".

Solution: Pull the metal tube back and jb weld it in place.

the stock one does work. i know my vacuum lines are hooked up properly. there is just something wrong with the hks.

That is what I'm saying. the metal tube on the hks bov is causing your problem. You will have to open the bov and pull the metal tube back so that its not holding the diaphram shut.

A friend of mine has the HKS SS BOV and his flutters at part throttle around 5k rpm and he said it blows of too easily. Is there something he can do?
Also what aftermarket BOV's will fit the stock 1G flange, even if i cut the oval section and just had the circular part? Thanks, mark

a little off topic but a bov should let off whenever there is boost so i dont really know what ur friends problem is or what it matters that it is part throttle at 5k.
and any greddy bov will fit the 1g flange.

BOV's should only open when the throttle plate slams shut. His BOV opens with the throttle partly open. Thanks for the tip on the Greddy's! mark
