No vacuum??? WTF?

hi,

today i was driving my talon, hard. Parked it shut it off, let it sit for 10-15 mins. Upon starting it back up I had No vac. All Vac lines were OK, no leaks. I took the Boost gauge tap off and blew into it and the needle would move. Put it back on still nothing. I turned it off and on a few times and still nothing. I'm T'ed off my FPR since I blocked off the EGR and have no other vac lines. Well I decided to drive the car anyhow and once I got a little boost the gauge starting working perfectly again. Any thoughts on what caused this? It was not a vac line off, No kinks, everything on the datalogger was reading fine.

Was this your stock gauge or an aftermarket ?

I have an autometer gauge too and sometimes it likes to stick for some reason. I'll give it a good flick and it go down to around 20 in hg . It will stick at 10 psi then jump to 15 at full boost sometimes too. Maybe you just need to slap your gauge around a little.

1. Remove the hose from the gauge and put you finger on it, if you feel vacuum you have a bad gauge. If not go to 2.

2. Remove the hose from the T off fpr, put your finger on the T. If you feel vacuum there, replace the hose to the gauge. If you still don't then you have a bigger problem.

Make sure let the turbo cool down next time. :nono:
 
autometer guages stick sometimes. When i start everyonce in a while it will stay at 0psi, but if your car is idling fine you dont have a vacuum problem. Even a small vacuum leak you would notice an idle difference. Just drive it around, give it a little boost, and that may help the needle to drop back down to where it should be. Works for me.
 
Yea I think it was just stuck. Its only done it that one time and it quit as soon as I got a little boost. Car ran fine so I don't think its a problem.
