well i was finishing up my timing belt job and when I started to reconnect my ground wire on the battery terminal, I got a good chunk of spark. I tried it again and no spark this time. With everything connected now i turned on the car and tested the lights. When I turn on the Head lights, not the corner lights, the horn turns on and stays that way forever. Now the Headlights and horn both stay on even if I turn off the headlights and car is off. the only way to turn of the lights/horn is to disconnect the battery. Now before I connected the battery, I put in a new air filter, and since the filter is so close to the fuse box, I was thinking I must have pushed it alittle and wires may have started touching. Anybody have any idea what the problem could be or know how I can find out. I REALLY hate electrical problems! thanks in advance.

this happend when i was re-wiring my car, some of the wires in the conection by the fuse box were messed up, this might not be the prob, but if the box by the air can is good you might want to check there.

sounds like your headlamp wire got hot and fused itself to the horn wire. Your problem could be under the dash or it could be under the hood of the car. Problems like these are not fun to find and take a lot of patience. Try to track down the two circuits with a wiring diagram and find out where they go. Then look through the harness and see if you can find the two wires that are fused together. Using an ohm meter really helps a lot too.

To help narrow it down remove both the headlight and horn relays in the engine fusebox. Do both headlights and horn stay off when headlight switch is turned on or when horn pressed? If both stay off, replace the headlight relay and retest same way (first headlight switch then horn button). Only headlights turn on? If yes, remove headlight relay and replace horn relay and retest same way. Only horn sound?

what is the point in having a thread when they dont have the answers posted?? It seems a little too common to have to rip out the entire wire harness and trace wires. same exact problem here, i rewired my alternator completely because the fuse keeps blowing, but the horn stays on and headlights will not turn off

problem solved.... turns out after rewiring my alternator choke fuse there was a power block in the fuse box under the hood not getting power, after providing power to it it fixed the headlight and horn issue

I know this is old but did you have issue with all the dash indicators such as the engine light, battery, light, etc... Not working aswell as windows and radio? I'm trying to diagnose this. Seems nothing is working I don't even think the fuel pump is working. Car won't start and I turn the lights on and the horn goes off but when I turn the lights back off the horn sound stops aswell
