I'm about to go check out a 97 Spyder GST, he says it leaks in the front of the top in the hard hard rain, and it has to be raining for a while. He said it's common for them to leak, and even after he had a new top and seals installed. Even the local Mitsu dealer told him that all Spyders do it. He said it also leaks in the back where it folds down or something. If this is common, how bad of a leak is it? I have a 1977 280Z with crappy aftermarket sunrooves in it, and it's a POS and leaks hard in the slight rain :) So if it's a tiny drop or two, I don't guess that's a big deal, but if it's prone to leak bad, I may want to steer clear of this car. Also he said sometimes, when it's cold outside (usually when it happens), he said it sounds like the starter doesn't want to disengage the flywheel right away after the car is started.

If that's prelude to a big electrical nightmare, or a hard to replace starter or something, could someone give me the heads up...thanks!

My car leaks where the windows touch the roof. It shouldn't leak were the roof attaches to the top of the front window or in the back. Just check it out with a hose if he'll let you. As for the starter problem i dont Know. Best of luck to you.

The corner leaks can be minimized by weatherproofing but I have discovered it's when you get overspray on the weatherstripping is when it makes a big difference.

Like gs-t spidey said, it should not leak anywhere else.
