So i just got my car back after having a blown tranny replaced. I had them put in a Slowboy 3500 Heavy Duty clutch and the car drives fine, but here's the thing...

When im not giving the car gas and the thing is in gear i hear like a slight rattle noise, but if i push in the clutch or give it a little gas then it goes away. also, it seems like you can hear the rattle at idle, but faintly and if you push in the clutch pedal it goes away. is this normal? i know my act 2100 had a slight rattle but you couldnt hear it when i was just coasting in gear. its also most noticeable at higher speeds.

im thinking the noise has always been there and since ive been driving an impala for the past 2 weeks and the cabin is dead silent im just really in tune to all sorts of noises. let me know if this sounds like a problem though. i mean, the car drives fine, but ive yet to beat on it... tranny only has 40 miles on it now.

edit...
and this is a brand new mitsubishi throw out bearing in there as well, so doubt that is what it is.

ok, so now i know it's not paranoia. there is definately a noise coming from my tranny area... i emptied the glove box, the cup holder, arm rest, map holders, everything, eliminating every possible noise.

now, when i drive in first gear there is a clattering rattle type noise coming from the tranny area. you can also hear this noise at idle and if you push in the clutch then it goes away. what could this be? anyone?

Sounds like a throwout bearing. Mine use to do that at idel too until I install a new clutch, flywheel, TOB, pivit ball, and fork.

I get a weird vibration and noise while engine braking too. Not sure why. Kinda like a waa wa waa wa waa noise. Not really a rattle more of a deeper rubing noise...Whatever, the clutch was install correctly. Not much else I can do. I think part might be due to the light weight flywheel, because I don't remember it making that noise before when engine braking.

On a side note I dumped it into 2nd at around 40mph and burnt the tires up to about 60 so it seems to be holding well for a 2100 with about 250whp (evoIII, 20psi, smic)

did you use an OEM throw out bearing or an aftermarket one?
