So here is what's been going on.......

I was driving from work and i was stoped at a light in which 3 lanes merged into 2. So i gave it some gas to get ahead of teh guy in front of me who was driving slower then time itself.

As soon as i let off the gas. The car sounded different. My 91 Talon always sounded low pitched. But now it sounds like 6 semi-trucks combined. It sounds soooooooo LOUD and LOW! (definatly sounds like there's something wrong)......no clanging or bumping sounds in the engine......It just got so loud....It sounds kinda like i,m running just a downpipe. :toobad:

So i got home and see all this oil in the downpipe region. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

I just need this car to last me 4 more months before i leave for college. So could someone please give me some input on what the problem is.

Also the car still boosts.....well i,m assuming it boosting cause the BOV still PshhhT.......But the car doesn't seem to pull as hard. Could i possibly have blown the turbo?

Please help!

Thanks,
Alex

but it doesn't add up because the motor only has 50,XXXk on it and it honestly just went out for no reason. and the BOV still goes "pshhhht".....so doesn't that mean boost is still being mad? (however, like i said before, there is a crazy loss in power)

now, if it is infact my turbo, whats with all the oil and shit on my downpipe and whatever that box is to the right of the downpipe (what is that thing btw).

As you all can see i,m not the most up to date person on my DSM stuff. I,ve been working on a cavalier for the past 3 years and those cars are a totally different story....i mean geez with this Talon, it seems like i have to drive around with a fricken tool box in the car all the time.

So any more info on this issue would be great!

Is that a stock 14b turbo on your car? Check to see if you can find any oil coming from or coating the underside of the turbo. What color smoke is your car making at idle? Take off your intake pipe and check to see how much shaft play the turbo has.

That "box" is your oil pan, take off your intake piping and check that turbo, if there is oil in the turbo housing then Its definitely the turbo...and make sure your oil filter hasn't backed out at all.

You should NOT be trying to get boost on this car when it has that serious of an oil leak somewhere, I mean honestly are you trying to ruin the motor too?

All that oil on the bottom of the car is the first i,ve seen of it. After the incident of my car sounding like i,m running a downpipe last night i haven't driven it.

The only time i was trying to make boost after the incident was on my way home with just normal acclerating. (thats when i noticed it was still making boost)......but no normally i don't touch this car with that type of oil leak. All this oil leak is the first time i,ve seen this happen.

Yes, this is the stock 14b turbo. I will definatly be taking off my intake and checking for the oil in the turbo!

If its not the Turbo, i,m pretty scared of what it could be! Maybe just a blown gasket? :barf:
