bogs down when I brake

My car has a little problem. When I pump the brakes it bogs down. the idle goes down to like 650-750 and jumps around like crazy. When i stop pumping the brakes it goes back up where it should be. I also am wanting to know, do the grounds on the firewall really make that big of a difference in the way the car runs and performs? I recently painted my engine bay and all the grounds havent been stripped of paint or anything. I have some slight electrical problems. When I honk my horn the air/fuel guage shuts off until i let off of the horn it comes right back on. I am hoping that all the electrical problems is because of the grounds, or something simple.

Every ground is there for a reason, they're all important.

Bogging while braking is commonly caused by vacuum leaks in the brake booster unit.

I recently painted my engine bay and all the grounds havent been stripped of paint or anything.

All contact areas of every ground connection and wire MUST be metal on metal with no paint.

I'd run through the wireing, it's everywhere...even the tail light wires.

Or a leaking (or missing) vacuum check valve in the tube from the manifold to the booster resevoir. It lives inside the hose, and is invisible from the outside.
