steering wheel locked

What a good way to start my summer
My car has been stored for the last 4 months(canadian winters) so i decided to take it out today. As i attempt to pull it out of it's space the steering wheel locks up on me!! Now it won't unlock. I Tried giggling the steering wheel back and forth while pressing the brakes, it didn't work and the botton. I hooked up my battery and still nothing?? why won't it unlock !!!

Short version, if the key isn't in and turned to the 'on' position, the steering wheel will lock as an anti-theft feature. Only reason I'm guessing you didn't do this is the comment about hooking up your battery, *after* trying to pull it out of its space.
