Ok, I finally pulled the head and this is what I found. I was wondering what I need to do the make this a working head.

Unless you're an expert head rebuilder, take it to a reputable engine machine shop that does valve jobs and save yourself a lot of time consuming grief (not to mention putting it all back together and then finding other head problems like surface reconditioning, valves not ground properly, damaged valve guides/cams/lash adjusters/bearing caps/stem seals/rocker arms, etc, etc, etc. all of which they will fix).

Well, im also wondering if the car is even worth it. Its a non-turbo, and I bought it for like $200, and it hasn't run in 3 years. even after getting the head fixed, I still need to do a full timing change, (belts and pullys) Im thinking about just buying a new motor. I found one for $380 on www.osakajdmmotors.com What do you guys think?

Is the $380 able to run? I didn't see any compression readings so you have a lot of questions to ask before you consider it. Were you to take that money can you fix what you have? You have to sit down and make a list with columns pro and con.

You could sell parts or sell the car, lots of tough decisions.

Well, the website said the motors a re working with 15.000-35,000 miles. my car has around 160,000. I would really like to see the car run, cause ive spent alot of time on it. But I just got into the Air Force Academy, and I can't have a car till my junior year. So, now the decision is even tougher. hmmmmm.

Congratulations on the appointment. Had you waited long? What's your goal?

Yegads, you do have some decisions which I can't give a lot of help. It's hard to say if parts or cars will be any easier to come by or what their value will be 2 years. If you have a place to store it under cover it might be worth holding but your interests may change and transportation may be more critical rather than what is known as a high maintenance vehicle. If you have the time and money and the engine is what they say it is then then it's not such a bad deal. For sure you want a compression check done before you buy an engine and you will want to do it again when you receive it before sticking it in the car. Will you have to give them you old one?

Cheers,
GTM
