Aligning timing belt

When i installed my timing belt , i tried it and when going to tdc ewrytime i rotate
i get pressure and its harder to turn. is that normal when turning the engine by hand becaouse its the compression step ???? Also aligning the cams i have to kind of force
the cam on the belt so it wont jump back up. is that alright ??
I really would appreciate any help ,my first timing belt and not too much expericance.

Remove spark plugs when doing TB.
